Crane operator training course is 4 weeks long. One hundred sixty (160) clock hours. Approximately 50% of the course is spent in the field and 50% in the classroom.
Certified graduates will be qualified to perform as a rigger and signal person.
Direct hands-on operation of truck-mounted, self-propelled and track-mounted cranes with hydraulic and lattice booms rigged with hook blocks, clamshells and dragline attachments in their proper application.
Students will spend approximately 50% of training time in the field doing designed lifts, projects, rigging and signaling with the above attachments while following all safety precautions also doing equipment safety inspections.
Classroom time consists of classes on proper nomenclature of cranes, wire rope and attachments, and proper operation. Hand signals and equipment inspections. Students perform all projects under the supervision of instructors who advise and guide them as needed. Construction conditions exist to train students in a work atmosphere.
