The Dump Truck Program is available ONLY as an add-on course with Heavy Equipment Operator Training or the Crane Operator Certification Course.
West Coast Training is now offering a 160 hour Dump Truck Training Program.
Many changes have taken place within the construction industry over the past decade. Large construction companies are no longer handling all of the heavy equipment work, but are sub-contracting to smaller construction companies. This is creating a demand for Heavy Equipment Operators with a Class A CDL who are able to move the equipment from site to site. West Coast Training provides the training necessary for students who want this capability when going out into the current work force.
WCT's Dump Truck Training Program will enhance your employment opportunities as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
You will acquire the skills needed by many employers with operations that involve heavy equipment operators loading, securing, transporting and unloading their equipment to various construction job locations.
Upon passing the program, the student will have the opportunity to complete the driving portion of the CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A.
Each student will receive 160 hours of instruction that includes 40 hours in the classroom, and 120 hours of "hands on training" with a minimum of 50 hours behind the wheel.

- Pre-Trip Inspection
- Driving
- Vehicle Control
- Braking
- Corners
- Up-Shifting
- Down-Shifting
- Backing
- Adjusting Air Brakes
- Loading Dump Truck
- Dumping Load
- Spread Load
- Hooking and Unhooking Trailers
- Loading and Unloading Equipment (i.e. Backhoes, Dozers and Small Excavators)
- Tying Down Equipment on Trailer
Requirements of the DT/CDL student are that they obtain a D.O.T. Medical Card (approx. $80.00), CDL Class-A Permit (approx. $10.00) and take the written tests (approx. $30.00) prior to start date. The cost of these is not included in your tuition. WA State will also require $100 skills fee upon permit issuance. Students must pass a drug screening test prior to beginning the course.
